As every organisation, we have guiding principles. This might also help you to get to know us a little better. They are:
- 100 % of the money you are trusting us with goes to the Gambia. (I.e. none of the donations go into the Bintang Bolong Lodge.)
- We report about all the projects that are funded.
- We seek to be as transparent as we can.
- The supported projects are selected through both locals and foreigners with best and sustainable intentions.
Who are we?
We are the people behind and around the Bintang Bolong Lodge. The impact of the Lodge extends far beyond its own operations, which by the way only profit the locals. Since the reubuild of the Lodge in 2004, a lot of good people have helped to build up countless projects in the area. The Lodge supports a group of both community members and foreigners who have organized a variety of social projects aimed at improving the lives of those in the area. This group has built schools, established food programms for students, sponsored students to stay in school and even attend university, built infrastructure such as dwells and watertanks and much more . Read more about the work they did in our stories!
For many years, the head of this group used to be Elfi and Günther. They worked together with the municipality of Dauchingen and a lot of amazing people of whoom many still support the project. Nowadays, as Elfi and Günther retired from the project to enjoy their well deserved rest, the responsibility of overlooking the ongoing projects fell into the hands of their son Sebastian, his wife Anja and their four grandkids. Anja and Sebastian then went out and looked for a suited partner to level the organizational load. That’s when they joined forces with ConCultures e.V. from Sauerlach. Together with the locals, they now continue the work of the many good people before them. Read about the current projects in the stories.
At this point we want to quickly stop and express our sincere gratitude to all sponsors.
All this is not possible without you, and for that, we and the whole region around Bintang are truly thankful.
